The Lengthening process is a challenging approach to adding vessel capacity!
We are in Palermo working on a three ship project for Windstar Cruises!
The process is incredible and demanding while several skills and competences interweave for the final result. In fact, it must be pointed out that generally speaking the design phase of any lengthening project is comparable to that of a newbuild ship.
Outline and some data of our Team presence in Palermo where we will be responsible for all the electrical work:
- Three ships of the Windstar Cruises: Star Breeze – Star Pride – Star Legend to lengthen
- Location at Fincantieri – Palermo
- Major contract investment about €12.000.000.00
- High profile expertise in planning, organizing and engineering
- Over 60 Tefin experts working on the project in Palermo
- Total 500.000 meters of cables needed for the project
- The lengthening work will involve adding a 26 meter long mid-body
- Extensive refurbishing and maintenance services for all units to be provided
The cruise ship industry is, of course, very interested in the lengthening option and we are pleased our experts have the skills and experience to support our clients.
Depending on the ships …the project may last 5 or 6 months and will require excellent teamwork.
So far we have worked successfully on a total of 10 ships.
