SPEED LOG AND MAINTENANCE: A SYNERGISTIC MUST

We value maintenance a lot! It is a key issue for us.
We all know that, unfortunately, most companies do not invest in maintenance to keep their equipment and facilities in good condition.
They wait until they break down to take the necessary  measures to repair or replace the equipment.
Every piece of equipment has its lifecycle but for example, an equipment can be designed to last for 5,000 hours, but with a proper use and maintenance it could last for 10,000 hours.

Maintenance, in the long run is always cost effective and necessary to avoid major damages and shut downs. It is indeed more so for speed logs.

They are very important for a safe navigation and require full dedicated attention as  they are very “fragile” on board any vessel. Their maintenance may be an issue if not recurrent.
Monitoring the evolution of the parts and their conditions is smart and useful.
