When a Business Meeting Makes the Difference!
Tefin is very selective in sponsoring meetings and events, and this happens only when the “event” content or the “initiative” does not collide with its value, mission, management perspective and style. This was the case of the recent meeting organized by Shipping Italy in Genoa last May 9: “Ferries and Ro-Ro “Navigating between uncertainties and new investments”.
As silver sponsor we did appreciate the “full package” of the meeting and our CEO, Diego Sabatini and our sales manager, Angelo Minieri, took advantages of the unique networking flow available. It was a real opportunity to share Tefin’s present activities and projects related to the subject.
Main focus of the meeting, the “decarbonisation” issue, generated full attention and discussion and proved to still be a controversial item in the ro-ro and ro-pax ship sector. It was stated that the future scenario is not well defined and clear because of regulatory confusion, production uncertainty, logistics and distribution not easy to be immediately solved, technical limitationsand potential economic impasses.
Interesting and puzzling but true was a statement of Giorgio Barabino, of Shell Marine: “Let’s not expect a single alternative fuel to become available. Decarbonisation will proceed in stages and in multiple directions. For sure it will be expensive”.
All speakers provided useful inputs on the subject and the audience welcomed them all.
However, it was clear that uncertainty is the key while a flexible approach is required in a smart context for a smart solution to decarbonisation, a debatable and complicated issue so far.
