Ship Lengthening for Windstar Cruises in Palermo
Our team, still at Fincantieri in Palermo, is involved with the three ship project for Windstar Cruises!
A lengthening project is a very demanding job, it requires time, expertise, organization, planning, precise engineering and care for details but it is indeed a stimulating Team experience. We are proud and grateful for this opportunity to share our know-how, provide support and perform creatively.
One ship of the Windstar Cruises, Star Breeze, has already been successfully completed and delivered while we are now working on Star Pride and Star Legend!
Star Breeze was a success…She now boasts more space with the addition of 50 new suites, two innovative new restaurants, an enlarged spa/fitness center, a large pool and deck, expanded outdoor deck areas, new bathrooms in all suites and new efficient engines.
Fincantieri also carried out renovation work in existing public spaces and passenger cabins, as well as staff and crew areas.
The whole project started in October 2019 and it is scheduled to end in August 2021
- The lengthening work involves adding a 26 meter long mid-body. This will increase the ship’s total length (160 meters) while it will extend capacity from 212 to 31.
- Over 60 Tefin experts are presently working at the project providing all the electrical work/refitting mostly for the public areas, along with the propulsion control station, the motor system and for the Bridge
- To prevent the spread of Covid-19 when the ship will resume service, Fincantieri has equipped Star Breeze with new HEPA filters and UV-C light technology to filter and disinfect the air, as well as electrostatic sprayers to sanitize all surfaces throughout the ship.
